Bellow

muški rodlično ime
IPA: / beloʊ /
Značenje:

(1915-) Canadian-born US novelist. From his first novel, Dangling Man 1944, Bellow has typically set his naturalistic narratives in Chicago and made his central character an anxious, Jewish-American intellectual. In The Adventures of Augie March 1953 and Henderson the Rain King 1959, he created confident and comic picaresque heroes, before Herzog 1964, which pitches a comic but distressed scholar into a world of darkening humanism. Later works, developing Bellow’s depiction of an age of urban disorder and indifference, include the near-apocalyptic Mr Sammler’s Planet 1970, Humboldt’s Gift 1975, The Dean’s December 1982, More Die of Heartbreak 1987, and the novella A Theft 1989. His finely styled works and skilled characterizations won him the Nobel Prize for Literature 1976. Later works include Him with His Foot in His Mouth 1984, and More die of Heartbreak 1987.
Bellow moved 1924 to the US with his family and graduated from Northwestern University 1937. He taught at various colleges, including Princeton, Bard, and the University of Chicago. He won the National Book Award 1954, 1965, and 1971 and a Pulitzer Prize 1976.
