Any bird of the large family Turdidae, order Passeriformes, found worldwide and known for their song. Thrushes are usually brown with speckles of other colors. They are 12–30 cm/5–12 in long.
North American species include the hermit thrush Catharus guttatus, a beautiful songster; the wood thrush Hylocichla mustelina; and the American robin Turdus migratorius. European species include the song thrush Turdus philomelos and the mistle thrush T. viscivorus.
