### preciznost [ ženski rod ]

Tačnost, određenost, opredeljenost; tačno određivanje, tačna određenost pojmova; kratkoća, jasnost izražavanja, izlaganja. (lat.)

#### accuracy [ imenica ]

The quality of being accurate and without error; SYN. truth.
The combined error of nonlinearity, repeatability, and hysteresis expressed as a percent of full scale output.
In mathematics, a measure of the precision of a number. The degree of accuracy depends on how many figures or decimal places are used in rounding off the number. For example, the result of a calculation or measurement (such as 13.4293s) might be rounded off to three decimal places (13.4s), to two decimal places (13.s), to one decimal place (13.4 s), or to the nearest whole number (s). The first answer is more accurate than the second, the second more accurate than the third, and so on.
Accuracy also refers to a range of errors. For example, an accuracy of ± means that a value may lie between 9and 10of a given answer.
Alternatively, a result might be presented to a certain number of significant figures (digits that are important because of their place value). For example, the number 409,3might be expressed to an accuracy of four significant figures (409,300), three significant figures (409,000), two significant figures (410,000), or one significant figure (400,000). Here again, the first answer is more accurate than the second, and so on.

#### accurateness [ imenica ]

The state or quality of being accurate; accuracy; exactness; nicety; precision

#### certainty [ imenica ]

ETYM Old Fren. certaineté.
Something that is certain.
The state of being certain.

#### correctness [ imenica ]

Conformity to fact or truth; SYN. rightness.
Conformity to social expectations.

#### definitude [ imenica {arhaično, zastarelo} ]

PRECISION, DEFINITENESS

#### precision [ imenica ]

ETYM Cf. French précision, Latin praecisio a cutting off. Related to Precise.
The quality or state of being precise; exact limitation; exactness; accuracy; strict conformity to a rule or a standard; definiteness.
Precision is reproducibility. SayingThese measurements are precis is the same as saying,The same measurement was repeated several times, and the measurements were all very close to one anothe. Don’t confuse precision with accuracy.

#### punctuality [ imenica ]

ETYM Cf. French ponctualité.
The quality or habit of adhering to an appointed time; SYN. promptness.

The extent of detail used in expressing a number. For example, 3.141592gives more precision—more detail—about the value of pi than does 3.1Precision is related to, but different from, accuracy. Precision indicates degree of detail; accuracy indicates correctness. The number 2.838is also more precise than 3.1but it is less accurate for pi. Compare accuracy.
In programming, numeric values are often referred to as single-precision or double-precision values. The difference between the two is in the amount of storage space allotted to the value. See also double-precision, single-precision.
