A group of musicians playing only brass and percussion instruments.
Instrumental ensemble consisting of brass instruments and sometimes percussion instruments. The brass usually comprises (in descending order of pitch) the cornet, flugelhorn, tenor horn, B-flat baritone, euphonium, trombone, and bombardon (bass tuba). The brass band developed during the 19th century from the military band, and was particularly associated with the manufacturing towns of Lancashire and Yorkshire. Classical composers have written for the medium, including Elgar in his Severn Suite 1930. brass-band
