imenica

Sinonimi: passive

The voice used to indicate that the subject of the verb is the recipient (not the source) of the action denoted by the verb; SYN. passive.
In grammar, the voice of a verb in a sentence where the subject is affected by the action rather than performing it (“Jim has been eaten by a pig”). It is less direct than the active voice (“The pig ate Jim”) but is useful when the agent of the action is not known or not important (“That house was built in 1908”) or to suggest an impersonal force (“Trespassers will be prosecuted”).
