In Greek mythology, the goddess of chastity, the young of all creatures, the Moon, and the hunt (Roman Diana). She is the twin sister of Apollo and was worshiped at cult centers throughout the Greek world, one of the largest of which was at Ephesus. Her great temple there, reconstructed several times in antiquity, was one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
