(1877-1953) French painter and designer. Inspired by Fauvism he developed a fluent, brightly colored style in watercolor and oils, painting scenes of gaiety and leisure, such as horse racing, yachting, and life on the beach. He also designed tapestries, textiles, and ceramics.
