A common term for routine, likely to be used in reference to shorter, general, frequently called routines. See also procedure, routine.
In computing, a small section of a program that is executed (“called”) from another part of the program. Subroutines provide a method of performing the same task at more than one point in the program, and also of separating the details of a program from its main logic. In some computer languages, subroutines are similar to functions or procedures.
