In grammar, a form of the verb. English has two forms, a present participle ending in -ing (for example, “working” in “They were working”, “working men”, and “a hard-working team”) and a past participle ending in -ed in regular verbs (for example, “trained” in “They have been trained well”, “trained soldiers”, and “a well-trained team”).
