Adopted name of Charles Hardin Holley (1936-1959)
US rock-and-roll singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He had a distinctive, hiccuping vocal style and was an early experimenter with recording techniques. Many of his hits with his band, the Crickets, such as ‘That’ll Be the Day’ 1957, ‘Peggy Sue’ 1957, and ‘Maybe Baby’ 1958, have become classics. He died in a plane crash.
