An ester of glycerol and fatty acids that occurs naturally as fats and fatty oils.
Ester formed between one or more acids and glycerol (propan-1,2,3-triol). A glyceride is termed a mono-, di-, or triglyceride, depending on the number of hydroxyl groups from the glycerol that have reacted with the acids.
Glycerides, chiefly triglycerides, occur naturally as esters of fatty acids in plant oils and animal fats.
