See artificial insemination.(AI) Introduction by instrument of semen from a sperm bank or donor into the female reproductive tract to bring about fertilization. Originally used by animal breeders to improve stock with sperm from high-quality males, in the 20th century it has been developed for use in humans, to help the infertile. See in vitro fertilization.
The sperm for artificial insemination may come from the husband (AIH) or a donor (AID).

artificial intelligence

imenicaračunariIPA: / ˌɑ:tɪˌfɪʃl ˌɪnˈtelədʒəns /

Množina: artificial intelligences

(AI) Branch of science concerned with creating computer programs that can perform actions comparable with those of an intelligent human. Current AI research covers such areas as planning (for robot behavior), language understanding, pattern recognition, and knowledge representation.
Early AI programs, developed in the 1960s, attempted simulations of human intelligence or were aimed at general problem-solving techniques. It is now thought that intelligent behavior depends as much on the knowledge a system possesses as on its reasoning power. Present emph
asis is on knowledge-based systems, such as expert systems. Britain's largest AI laboratory is at the Turing Institute, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. In 1990 the first International Robot Olympics was held there, including table-tennis matches between robots of the US and the UK.
The branch of computer science concerned with enabling computers to simulate such aspects of human intelligence as speech recognition, deduction, inference, creative response, the ability to learn from experience, and the ability to make inferences given incomplete information. Two common areas of artificial-intelligence research are expert systems and natural-language processing. Acronym: AI. See also expert system, natural-language processing.
The branch of computer science that deal with writing computer programs that can solve problems creatively; SYN. AI.

Množina: Artificial Intelligence Labs

(general term): A very famous place, the MIT Artificial Intelligence (MIT AI) Lab has been at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence research since 1959. The primary goal of the AI Lab is to not only understand the nature of intelligence but also engineer computer systems exhibiting some form of intelligence. The MIT AI Lab is interdisciplinary in nature and encompasses more than 200 academics across several academic departments. Members of the MIT AI Lab believe that vision, robotics, and language are the critical keys to understanding intelligence. On July 1,2003, the MIT AI Lab merged with the Lab for Computer Science (LCS) to become the MIT CSAIL (Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab).
