1. Snell's law of refraction

In optics, the law stating that for light rays passing from one transparent medium to another, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence and the sine of the angle of refraction is constant.
The ratio for any pair of transparent media is called its refractive index.
The law is named for its discoverer, Dutch physicist Willebrord Snell.
