(1934-) English fashion designer. She popularized the miniskirt in the UK and was one of the first designers to make clothes specifically for the teenage and early twenties market, producing bold, simple outfits which were in tune with the “swinging London” of the 1960s. Her designs were sharp, angular, and streetwise, and she combined spots, stripes, and checks in an original way. Her Chelsea boutique was named Bazaar. In the 1970s she extended into cosmetics and textile design.
