Hammond organ | engleski leksikon

1. Hammond organ

imenica

Electric organ invented in the US by Laurens Hammond 1934 and widely used in gospel music. Hammond applied valve technology to miniaturize Thaddeus Cahill’s original “tone-wheel” concept, introduced draw-slide registration to vary timbre, and incorporated a distinctive tremulant using rotating speakers. The Hammond organ was a precursor of the synthesizer.
