A breed of large powerful hound of European origin having very acute smell and used in tracking; SYN. sleuthhound.
Breed of dog originated as a hunting dog in Belgium in the Middle Ages. Black and tan in color, it has long, pendulous ears and distinctive wrinkled head and face.
