Either of two fleshy folds of tissue that surround the mouth and play a role in speaking
(Fluß) r. Nbfl. des Rhein, 214 km; mündet bei Wesel.
Nach dem gleichnamigen Nebenfluß des Niederrheins benannte, im 10. Jh. enstandene Herrschaft, 1529 Reichsgrafschaft, 1720 Reichsfürstentum. L. wurde 1807 Mitglied des Rheinbunds, 1815 des Dt. Bundes, 1866 des Norddt. Bundes und 1918 Freistaat (Land des Dt. Reiches). Seit 1947 gehört das Gebiet zum Bundesland NRW.
