The outward force on a body moving in a curved path around another body.
Useful concept in physics, based on an apparent (but not real) force. It may be regarded as a force that acts radially outward from a spinning or orbiting object, thus balancing the centripetal force (which is real). For an object of mass m moving with a velocity v in a circle of radius r, the centrifugal force F equals mv2/r (outward).
The apparent force that is felt by an object moving in a curved path that acts outwardly away from the center of rotation.
