Revolution und in den Konvent gewählt, wo er für die Vernichtung der Girondisten eintrat; im Bad von Charlotte Corday d'Armont erstochen.
(1743-1793) French Revolutionary leader and journalist. He was elected to the National Convention 1792, where he carried on a long struggle with the right-wing Girondists, ending in their overthrow May 1793. In July he was murdered by Charlotte Corday, a member of the Girondists.
Marat was a hero of the Paris revolutionary crowds. He was killed in his bath, where he generally worked, while treating a skin condition.
