Grand Prix motor-racing team formed by John Cooper (1923–). They built Formula Two and Formula Three automobiles before building their revolutionary rear-engined Cooper T45 in 1958.
Jack Brabham won the 1959 world title in a Cooper and the team won the Constructor's Championship. Both Brabham and Cooper retained their titles the following year. However, other rear-engined automobiles subsequently proved more successful and in 1968 Cooper left Formula One racing.
