(Psychologie) Repli sur soi.
In psychology, preoccupation with the self, generally coupled with a lack of sociability. The opposite of introversion is extroversion.
The term was introduced by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung 1924 in his description of schizophrenia, where he noted that “interest does not move toward the object but recedes toward the subject”. The term is also used within psychoanalysis to refer to the turning of the instinctual drives toward objects of fantasy rather than the pursuit of real objects. Another term for this sense is fantasy cathexis.
An introverted disposition; concern with one's own thoughts and feelings.
