Appareil qui restitue en sons les signaux électriques de l'amplificateur.
Converts electrical signals into sounds loud enough to be heard at a distance; SYN. speaker, speaker unit, loudspeaker system, speaker system.
Electromechanical device that converts electrical signals into sound waves, which are radiated into the air. The most common type of loudspeaker is the moving-coil speaker. Electrical signals from, for example, a radio are fed to a coil of fine wire wound around the top of a cone. The coil is surrounded by a magnet. When signals pass through it, the coil becomes an electromagnet, which by moving causes the cone to vibrate, setting up sound waves.
A loudspeaker that reproduces lower audio frequency sounds.
