Any flowering vine of the genus Wisteria; SYN. wistaria.
Any climbing shrub of the genus Wisteria, including W. sinensis, of the family Leguminosae, native to eastern US and east Asia. Wisterias have racemes of bluish, white, or pale mauve flowers, and pinnate leaves (leaves on either side of the stem).
