US actress. Tall, stately, and fine-boned, Weaver attained star status for her role as the resourceful heroine in Ridley Scott’s Alien series of films 1979–91. She showed a talent for understated comedy in Ghostbusters 1984 and Ghostbusters II 1989.
She played the anthropologist Dian Fossey in Gorillas in the Mist 1988. Her other notable films include Working Girl 1988 and The Year of Living Dangerously 1982.

Any small bird of the family Ploceidae, order Passeriformes, mostly about 15 cm/6 in long, which includes the house sparrow. The majority of weavers are African, a few Asian. The males use grasses to weave elaborate globular nests in bushes and trees. Males are often more brightly colored than females.
Many kinds are polygamous, so build several nests, and some species build large communal nests with many chambers. One species, the red-billed African quelea Quelea quelea, lives and breeds in flocks numbering many thousands of individuals; the flocks migrate to follow food sources. Their destructive power can equal that of locusts.
