mark-up
The extra added to the direct or variable cost of producing a good to arrive at the selling price. For example, a 50% mark-up on a good with a direct cost of Ł1 would mean that the company would sell the good for Ł1.50. The mark-up has to cover indirect and overhead costs as well as profit.
