Tall rush with soft erect or arching stems found in Eurasia, Australia, New Zealand, and common in North America; SYN. bullrush, common rush, soft rush, Juncus effusus.
Any of a number of marsh plants (especially of the genus Scirpus) belonging to the sedge family, having long, slender, solid stems tipped with brown spikelets of tiny flowers. Bulrushes are used in basket-making and thatching.
