(1892-1955) Swiss composer. He was one of the group of composers known as Les Six. His work was varied in form, for example, the opera Antigone 1927, the ballet Skating Rink 1922, the oratorio Le Roi David/King David 1921, program music (Pacific 231 1923), and the Symphonie liturgique/Liturgical Symphony 1946. He also composed incidental music for Abel Gance’s silent movie classics La Roue/The Wheel 1923 and Napoléon 1927.
