Množina: bone marrows
Substance found inside the cavity of bones. In early life it produces red blood cells but later on lipids (fat) accumulate and its color changes from red to yellow.
Bone marrow may be transplanted in the treatment of some diseases, such as leukemia, using immunosuppressive drugs in the recipient to prevent rejection. Transplants to adult monkeys from early aborted monkey fetuses have successfully bypassed rejection.
