(1910-1961) Finnish-born US architect. Son of Eliel Saarinen. He is known for a wide range of innovative modern designs using a variety of creative shapes for buildings. His works include the TWA terminal at Kennedy Airport in New York City; Dulles Airport outside Washington, DC; the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan; the Thomas J Watson Research Center in Yorktown, New York; Ezra Stiles and Morse colleges and the ice-hockey rink at Yale University; Kresge Auditorium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and US embassies in London and Oslo.
(1873-1950) Finnish-born US architect and founder of the Finnish Romantic school. His most famous European work is the Helsinki railroad station. In the US he is particularly remembered for his designs for Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Christ Church in Minneapolis.
