US film actress. She was the original “platinum blonde” and the wisecracking sex symbol of the 1930s. Her films include Hell’s Angels 1930, Red Dust 1932, Platinum Blonde 1932, Dinner at Eight 1933, China Seas 1935, and Saratoga 1937, during the filming of which she died (her part was completed by a double).
