(Walker) (1934-1972) Puerto Rican-born US baseball player who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates 1955–72. He had a career batting average of .317, was the 11th player in history to reach 3,000 hits, and was an outstanding right fielder.
Clemente was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico. He led the league in hitting four times, hit 240 career home runs, and was the National League's Most Valuable Player 1966. He died in a plane crash while flying to aid Nicaraguan earthquake victims. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame 1973.

(1952-) Italian painter. He was at the forefront of Neo-Expressionism in the 1970s. His use of hand-drawn imagery, rendered in an expressive, naive, and colorful style, was a reaction to the high-tech approach of Photorealism. The erotic, gesturing figures that characterize his work are frequently mutilated and often images of himself, as in Midnight Sun No VI 1982 (private collection).
Roman art and Indian mystical and folkloric references have provided the inspiration for much of his work.
