(ald William) (1937-) Australian middle- and long-distance runner. he broke 17 world records, ranging from 2 miles to the one-hour run.
The first man to break 13 minutes for the 3 miles 1966, he was also the first to better 28 minutes for the 10,000 meters.
Despite his record-breaking achievements, he never won a gold medal at a major championship.
