Biljka bescvetnica. Paprati su omiljene dekorativne biljke koje uspevaju u hladu i na suncu, u šumi, vrtu, ali i u sobi. Ima ih više od 90vrsta i sve vode poreklo još iz trijasa iz ere krede. U prastaro doba paprati su rasle u obliku ogromnog drveća koje je pokrivalo velike površine. Tada su bili hrana dinosaurusima. Od ostataka tih ogromnih paprati nastao je ugalj. Danas u Australiji raste vrsta paprati čije stablo dostiže visinu i do metara.
