A plant of the genus Valeriana having lobed or dissected leaves and cymose white or ink flowers.
Perennial plant of either of two genera, Valeriana and Centranthus, family Valerianaceae, native to the northern hemisphere, with clustered heads of fragrant tubular flowers in red, white, or pink. The root of the common valerian or garden heliotrope Valeriana officinalis is used medicinally to relieve flatulence and as a sedative.
