(1920-) US physicist whose graduate studies were interrupted by work on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. After World War II, working with Italian physicist Emilio Segrč, he discovered the existence of the antiproton. Both scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics 1959.
