Sinonimi: Corvus corax
Large black bird with a straight bill and long wedge-shaped tail; SYN. Corvus corax.
Any of several large crows (genus Corvus). The common raven c. corax is about 60 cm/2 ft long, and has black, lustrous plumage. It is a scavenger, and is found only in the northern hemisphere.
Ravens are traditionally associated with death, probably from their practice of gathering in large numbers around a carcass, despite being a normally solitary species.
