Perennial bushy herb Artemisia dracunculus of the daisy family Compositae, native to the Old World, growing to 1.5 m/5 ft, with narrow leaves and small green-white flower heads arranged in groups. Tarragon contains an aromatic oil; its leaves are used to flavor salads, pickles, and tartar sauce. It is closely related to wormwood.
