The 56-hectare/138-acre area, begun in the 1970s, cost about $3 billion to realize and is the fourth Disneyland theme park.
Although it made a loss of $900 million in its first year, for the six-month period preceding 31 March 1995 the theme park announced a 77% cut in losses, attributable in part to financial restructuring and in part to increased sales.
Largely a reproduction of Disney World in Orlando, Florida, the area is divided into Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Discoveryland, all off Main Street, US. Attractions include “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Big Thunder Mountain”, “Phantom Manor”, and “Star Tours”. The original Disneyland in Anaheim, California 1955 was followed by Disney World, Florida 1971 and Tokyo Disneyland, Japan 1983.
