Bottom-dwelling coastal fishes with spiny armored heads and fingerlike pectoral fins used for crawling along the sea bottom.
Coastal fish of the Trigla genus in the family Trigilidae, which creeps along the sea bottom by means of three fingerlike appendages detached from the pectoral fins. Gurnards are both tropic and temperate zone fish.
