In Greek mythology, the goddess of war, wisdom, and the arts and crafts (Roman Minerva), who was supposed to have sprung fully grown from the head of Zeus. In Homers Odyssey, she is the protector of Odysseus and his son Telemachus. Her chief cult center was Athens, where the Parthenon was dedicated to her.
