Ashkenazy
Definicija i značenje
(1937-) Russian-born pianist and conductor. He was music director of the Royal Philharmonic, London, from 1987 and of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1989. He excels in Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, and Liszt.
After studying in Moscow, he toured the US 1958. In 1962 he was joint winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition with John Ogdon. He settled in England 1963 and moved to Iceland 1968.
