Sports ground in N London, England, completed 1923 for the British Empire Exhibition 1924–25. It has been the scene of the annual Football Association (FA) Cup final since 1923. The 1948 Olympic Games and many concerts, including the Live Aid concert 1985, were held here. Adjacent to the main stadium, which holds 78,000 people, are the Wembley indoor arena (which holds about 10,000, depending on the event) and conference center.

crowd at Wembley is 126,047 for its first FA Cup final; the capacity has since been reduced by additional seating. England play most of their home soccer matches at Wembley. Other sports events over the years have included show jumping, American football, Rugby League, hockey, Gaelic football, hurling, and baseball.
