wavelet

imenicamatematika
/ weɪvlət /

Definicija:

A mathematical function that varies over a limited extent of time. Wavelets are coming into increasing use for analyzing signals (such as sound). They have limited duration and sudden changes in frequency and amplitude rather than the infinite duration and constant amplitude and frequency of the sine and cosine functions. Compare Fourier transform.
Wavelets are mathematical functions that cut up data into different frequency components, and then study each component with a resolution matched to its scale.
