Scratch formed by the movement of a glacier over a rock surface. Striations are caused by the scraping of rocky debris embedded in the base of the glacier (corrasion), and provide an useful indicator of the direction of ice flow in past ice ages.
They are common features of roche moutonnées.
1. The quality or condition of being striated.
2. A stria.
