A control message sent from a master terminal to a slave terminal as an invitation for the slave to transmit.
In computing, a technique for transferring data from a terminal to the central computer of a multiuser system. The computer automatically makes a connection with each terminal in turn, interrogates it to check whether it is holding data for transmission, and, if it is, collects the data.
