In astronomy, a constellation of the northern hemisphere, near Cassiopeia, and represented as the mythological hero. The head of the decapitated Gorgon, Medusa, is marked by the variable star Algol. Perseus lies in the Milky Way and contains the Double Cluster, a twin cluster of stars. Every August the Perseid meteor shower radiates from its northern part.
