(Tommaso da Panicale) (c. 1383-c. 1447) Florentine painter. He worked with Masaccio on the fresco cycle in the Brancacci Chapel of Sta Maria del Carmine, Florence, about 1425. He shared Masaccio's enthusiasm for the newly discovered technique of perspective but reverted, after the younger man's death, to his own preferred decorative style, in the tradition of International Gothic. An example is his fresco work at Castiglione d'Olona, near Como, about 1435.
