(Albert Arnold, Jnr) (1948-) US vice president 1993– under President Bill Clinton. A Democrat, he served in the House of Representatives 1977–85 and the Senate 1985–93 and became noted for his concern for the environment.
Born in Washington, DC, Gore graduated from Harvard University 1969 and served as a journalist in the army as well as for a newspaper in Nashville, Tennessee, US 1971–76. His father, Al Gore, Snr, was a prominent senator from Tennessee.
