Množina: geniuses
ETYM Latin genius, prop., the superior or divine nature which is innate in everything, the spirit, the tutelar deity or genius of a person or place, taste, talent, genius, from genere, gignere, to beget, bring forth. Related to Gender, Engine.
1. Exceptional creative ability; SYN. wizardry.
2. Someone who has exceptional intellectual ability and originality; SYN. mastermind, brain.
Extraordinary intellectual, inventive, or creative gifts, or a person possessing them. The productions of genius may be astonishingly original and their apparently spontaneous appearance baffling and inexplicable, but there is no doubt that lengthy periods of intensive work and single-minded devotion to the task are involved.
Whether geniuses form a class of supremely gifted individuals is a much debated question. High IQ, for example, is no predictor of genius.
