A musical composition in several movements; has no fixed form; SYN. serenade.
A suite of 18th-century music written for light entertainment, usually in four to nine movements, for a small string, wind, or mixed ensemble. Mozart wrote 25, entitling them in addition to “divertimento”, “serenades” and “cassations”.
